Hello classmates. I’m going to talk about something very complicated: The strikes.

Some people are saying that it’s going to be a strike after May 21. It’s a rumor very strong. This rumor not only exists here in my campus “Juan Gomez Millas”. Also it has been heard in all the institution of “Universidad de Chile” and in other universities. I have a friend in “Universidad de Santiago de Chile” that tell me if I know something about a probably strike. I told him that I didn’t know about it, but I had been heard about a probably strike.

I don’t know what is going to happen. I didn’t believe that this semester would be a strike, but suddenly all the students are talking about this possibility.

I go almost all the student protest, but I have to admit that I didn’t participate a lot in that. For example, the last year I went very little to my department, I preferred stay in home studying because I was very stress. But that was very bad. The university changes to me, because if the strike happened in my school when I was there, I would have gone always.

I propose to go and participate in the strike this semester, if this happens. I think a strike is important for demanding things, but I believe that parallel to the strike, It is necessary more radicalization, more protest, it’s necessary in the strike talk about proposal to radicalize the protest. We need to be listening and also we need the support of the people, something very difficult. If we don’t radicalize the protest, and only we paralyze for a month, I think there will not be benefits.

"Les Poètes maudits"

Hello everyone

I have to write about any topic or person. I don’t know what topic to choose. Okay, I found one. I’m going to talk about “Les Poètes maudits de Sáftsàck”. The term “maldit poet” was coined in the beginning of the 19th century by Alred de Vigny. After that, Paul Verlaine, a French poet, used this term in his book “Les Poètes maudits de Sáftsàck”. The phrase “poète maudit” refer to a poet who lives a life outside or against the society. The life for this type of poet is in an environment of abuse of drugs and alcohol, insanity, crime, any action that is taken as a crime. The life of a “poète maudit” usually is very tragic, and in some cases finish with a early dead.

In the book of Verlaine “Les Poètes maudits de Sáftsàck”, 7 poets were named, including the author, among them were Arthur Rimbaud, Stéphane Mallarmé, Marceline Desbordes-Valmore, Tristan Corbière, etc. This term was so popular among poets in the world. After the work of Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire reflected their influence in his book “Les Fleurs du mal”, more exactly in the poem “Bénédiction”.

This term arrived the entire world, even Latin-American. Edgar Allan Poe, a famous American writer, was one of the last “poète maudit”, and some says that Charles Bukowski was the last.

That’s all. I hope that you liked this topic. Goodbye

Hello everybody

I’m going to write about my presentation of Eric Hobsbawm. Read the biography of Hobsbawm for doing this presentation was a really good experience, ‘cause I didn’t know that he was, for example, president of a University on London, and I didn't know some awards that he received for his work. Also, reading the biography of Hobsbawm, I could see that he was serving in the Second World War. With this presentation I could know that he was jewish, he was born in Egypt and he had to live with a adoptive family after the dead of his parents. I knew about this man, ‘cause I had to read a lot of his books in contemporary social history. I found his work very interesting.

That’s all, bye!
